MLA Chernoff (they/them) is a Toronto-based writer, editor, and scholar. They are the author of [SQUELCH PROCEDURES] and seven poetry chapbooks, including TERSE THIRSTY and I'M LIKE THE GREAT GRANDCHILD OF MARX & COCA COLA (BUT NON-BINEY). MLA’s work has been featured in numerous journals, such as PRISM International, The Ex-Puritan, and Peach Mag. In 2024, their poem “RELAXATIONISM” was longlisted for the Austin Clarke Prize in Literary Excellence. MLA's literary work has received support from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, and the Toronto Arts Council, while their scholarship has seen funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
